Former Newcastle United centre-half, Nikolaos ‘Nikos’ Dabizas, has today become the latest addition to the Newcastle Legends line-up.
Nikos, who joined the Magpies in March 1998 from Greek outfit, Olympiakos, for a £2 million fee, made over 130 appearances during a near six year stay at the club.
Appearing in the 1998 and 1999 FA Cup Finals he wrote himself into Toon folklore by scoring the only goal in the Tyne-Wear derby, on enemy soil, in February 2002.
After leaving Newcastle he joined Leicester City before returning home to Greece in 2005 with AE Larissa, seeing out his career.
Dabizas was also capped seventy times by the Greek National Team between 1994 and 2004.
